About Toto
The group Toto was formed in the year 1976 by guitarists Jeff Porcaro and David Paich (who were also acclaimed studio musicians working with Boz Scaggs at the time) and singer/bassist Bobby Kimball. Their name is derived from the Latin word meaning "all encompassing," the group was intent on exploring every style of music.
In 1981 the third album by Toto Turn Back was a complete failure However, they resurface with their fourth release Isolation with two hits including the title track and Roseanna. The album and tour makes them a household name throughout the globe.
After a hiatus of a few years, Toto return with the album Fahrenheit in the year 1986. The album is an departure from the ballads that were featured on previous albums, and also features some heavy rock. It was their first platinum album in North America.

During the recording of the band's fifth album, the band loses their manager and are financially in trouble. They decide to change their name and create a new album with an entirely new producer. The lead vocalist Fergie Frederiksen departs and is replaced by Joseph Williams, son of legendary film composer John Williams and 1950s actress Barbara Ruick. Joseph is more natural as a frontman than Frederiksen and gives the band a much-needed boost.
The band releases Mindfields in 1999 and embarks on a major tour across the globe. After several weeks in Europe, the band heads to Japan for sold-out shows. The original group was joined by keyboardist Greg Tambu who filled in for Paich, and bassist David Hungate who filled in for Shem von Schroeck.
